Why Maven?
Some people hearing the word Maven immediately think about the Apache Maven project.
We have nothing to do with it.
Maven means "an expert" or better yet "an expert who likes to share knowledge".
It originated from the Hebrew word "mevin" (spelled מבין) that means "understand". It arrived to American English via Yiddish as explained here.
When I heard it the first decade of the 21st century I immediately liked the word. Partially because my sister is a Yiddish teacher.
I started to use it first for my Perl-related content on th Perl Maven site and then for everything else through the Code Maven site.
